Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip in bowl with BBQ chips

I love dips.

Sometimes I wish they could make an acceptable dinner, but they never properly fill me up (even if it’s buffalo chicken dip).

In fact, I have turned dips into dinner with buffalo chicken mac and cheese, but sometimes you just want to sit on the couch with a bowl of this Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip and just snack away.

I know there are a ton of cheesy bacon ranch dips out there, but I didn’t want that to stop me from sharing one of my favorites.

It’s a tangy sour cream dip loaded with cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and ranch seasoning.

The best part? It’s only 4 ingredients that you whisk together! Seriously it’s SO easy. The hardest part will be waiting an hour for it to chill (as the flavor will get better and better over time).

Ingredients For Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip

You only need 4 ingredients to make this simple bacon ranch cheddar cheese dip:

  • Sour cream: For best results, use full-fat sour cream. Fat = flavor
  • Cheddar cheese: I used sharp cheddar, but feel free to play around with different types of cheeses
  • Bacon: Cook in the oven or microwave before crumbling
  • Ranch seasoning: Adds flavor without adding extra liquid. More on that below

What is ranch seasoning?

This bacon ranch dip uses a packet of ranch seasoning, which is a powdered mix of dried buttermilk powder, parsley, dill, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

It’s very handy when you want to add flavor but don’t want to add more liquid to a recipe.

You can buy a packet in the salad dressing aisle or you can make your own homemade ranch seasoning .

If you don’t want to buy or make seasoning mix, reduce the sour cream to 3/4 cup and add 1/4 cup already-prepared ranch dressing.

How To Make Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip

There are only two steps to making your cheddar bacon ranch dip:

  1. Whisk sour cream, cheese, bacon, and ranch seasoning together in a bowl.
  2. Chill for at least an hour before serving.

You can make your dip up to 2 days ahead of time (especially if you’re making Super Bowl food for two and don’t want to prep everything in one day).

Refrigerate leftovers for up to 5 days.

What To Serve With Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip

What I love most about my cheesy bacon dip is you can serve it with both potato chips and vegetables (much like my ranch spinach dip).

I love pairing the smokiness and spice of BBQ potato chips with ranch, but (almost) any flavor will do.
