In Remembrance of Murray

Yes, you read the title correctly. I know a lot of you have been following Murray’s journey these past 5.5 years on the blog. I even debated on writing this post, but Murray was a part of the blog. Plus not all of you are on social media or may have missed the news. On Friday January 25, Murray took his final nap at the age of 13. Back in July, Murray developed a tumor in his jaw, pretty much bone cancer. It has grown tremendously these past six months, and he was in a lot of discomfort. It was the worst day of our life, but we now know he is resting peacefully, something he hasn’t done in a few months.

Thank you everyone for your support and kind words. It is touching that so many of you care and even checked up on me. Just knowing he won’t be here for the holidays or to greet me at the door makes it so hard, but I know someday he will meet us on the rainbow bridge (and if you’ve never read the poem, grab the tissues and read here).

Carla, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. It is devastating – the loss of a pet. I wish that I could say the perfect words that would comfort you, but I do not have them. What I can offer is my continued prayers to you that you heal from this and I can tell you to just remember him in the good times. Rest in peace Murray. xoxox

Oh Carla, I’m so sorry to hear about Murray. My heart breaks for you, loosing a pet is like loosing a family member. I remember when I featured you on my site a few months ago and I wanted to mention Murray in your introduction because I remember thinking, how nice it was to meet someone that had a love for their kitty like I have for mine. Hang in there and know I’m thinking of you!

I haven’t been on twitter much lately, so it must be how I missed this. I am so sorry, Carla. My Bijou is 13 and even though I know that losing a pet is an inevitable sorrow that we will have to bear at some point, you are never prepared for the void. My heart goes out to you and your family.

This is so heart breaking, Carla. I’ve only been following you for this past year but just in the few posts you’ve written about Murray, I know how dearly you loved him. When you’re sad, remember all the wonderful time you and your family have had with him and know that he’s not in pain anymore. I’m thinking of you!

Years ago when I met Brian and he lost a kitten to feline leukemia, I sent him that poem. He still remembers it but I can’t read it without hugging the stuffing out of our dog. I know she will go there one day, much sooner than I’m ready for her to. You gave Murray a wonderful life and a peaceful end. That’s all any of us can hope for. Try to be at peace, Carla.

So sorry for you and I know Murray is resting in peace like you said. He’s so lucky to have had a great friend and provider like you for his life. I had to take my Sophie, my 12 year old American Eskimo, to the vet 2 years ago when a tumor on her side got so she couldn’t sleep on her side. It was so hard watching her slowly get worse and worse over 4 months and the day she died was such a sad relief. Maybe Sophie will find Murray and have a blast now that they are pain free…she loved playing with fun cats. Take care and thanks for sharing.

My heart goes out to you Carla. We lost our 9 year old kitty to kidney disease a couple of years ago, the same year we lost our dog (14) to a terminal stroke. I was with them both as they left this world and it’s not an easy thing. But Murray is lucky he had you and you him. A match made in heaven. It’s okay to miss him, I miss my guys every day. They are family.

Condolences on your loss. We lost our two dogs who were like our children. I share your loss. We now have 2 cats (gluttons for punishment!) and love them dearly. Both are aging (like ME), but I would not want to be without my 4-footed “children.”
