2 Tablespoons (one 1-ounce bottle) red food coloring
Frosting
3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
For the cookies:
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Have a 13x9 pan ready.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.
In another large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and creamy, about 2-3 minutes Beat in the eggs then vanilla. Gradually beat in the flour mixture until a dough form.
Press the dough evenly into the pan. Bake about 20 minutes or until the edges start to pull away and a toothpick comes out of the center with very few crumbs (it may be red because of the coloring). Cool completely.
For the frosting:
In a large bowl, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, and salt until creamy. Add the vanilla and beat on high until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Spread onto the cookie bars and decorate with sprinkles.
